This course has taught me a lot in regards to designing a research study. For one, I was pretty much oblivious to the different types of research methods in their basic forms. I just thought research was research. After writing a research proposal myself, I have a much clearer idea not only how to write one, but why. That principle is similar to the goal of writing a proposal in the first place, explaining how and why. The processes we went over in class have really opened my eyes to the different potential roles and responsibilities of a technical writer. There is a lot of tediousness, the details really matter. I feel like I would not have as much of a hard time writing a proposal if I had full control over the subject matter. While research proposals and literature reviews might not be my thing, I see the merit in regards to understanding the how research is ultimately done on a professional level.
